Wow! This book took my breath away. But as a writer myself, I noticed some sentences were phrased awkwardly and could have done with better editing, but the plot and the characters were just...breathtaking.
All the characters were relatable and seemed to be well-rounded and the twist at the end was exceptional. I read it in one day. I could not put it down. I actually LOVED it.
Everything flowed cohesively and the twist was even brought about impressively. At first I thought fully revealing the killer so early in the book would have put a rush on everything else, but it turned out to be the right move. The race against time. The figuring out the clues. Everything was so well-done.
The 1990 flashback was done in a way that made you feel the pain without all the unneccesary and possibly triggering details. It was tastefully written.
Wow this book was simply a page turner. Dana Moison, my hat goes down to you. I was captured at the prologue and completely hooked after reading the first chapter. This r3eading experience brings drama, action, and the true sense of a psychological thriller. The twist and turns between the Kelly character and the detective kept me on my toes and guessing. I honestly thought we had solved everything midway through the novel, but Moison completely tricked me. If you enjoy a good mystery/thriller that flows and has you not wanting to put the book down; this novel is definitely for you. Grade A Dana can't wait to read some more of your work.
Simply amazing writing and storyline

Sophisticated, surprising and insightful novel. Suspenseful to the core. So much fun to read!!!
Ingenious plot and wonderful writing!
I found this to be a well written book with a well constructed plot.
If that sounds a little stilted, please, let me elaborate. I am not an avid fan of books in this genre. I find the characters troubling. I completely understand that's the idea -- there are scary people out there, and the plots explore how we face those demons and fight them off. I probably wouldn't have volunteered if I'd known more about the plot...
Because, this book is *right there.* I found myself getting sucked in ... scared because I knew things weren't going well. Rooting for the main characters, but knowing (ack! just knowing!) that terrifying events were going to befall them. Getting inside the head of the villain, knowing what was happening in that twisted mind and the motivations and plans....
If you enjoy this type of suspense, you will LOVE this book.
Suspense and terror, well crafted.
I'm looking forward to reading more books from Dana V. Moison, especially if the lead character Detective Sharon Davis continues to star in them! She's so authentic and gets right into your heart, from the very first page - probably one of my top three favorite detectives in literature.
Five stars all the way!
A friend recommended this book and I had to write my thoughts. I read it all night, fascinated until the very last page. I just couldn’t stop reading! I really loved the characters, especially the one of Detective Davis. Dark Illusion is very well written, has a brilliant plot and one twist you can never see coming!
Dana Moison certainly titled this book appropriately!
It is truly a Dark Illusion in more ways than one.
This psychological thriller is a wild ride. Every time you think you have the story figured out, you are faced with a new twist!
Kelly Danes is an Editor in Chief for Inner Beauty Magazine which is ironic on it's own as the story progresses. She has some peculiarities about her and a secret to hide.
Gloria McIntyre is a gorgeous model, some call her the most beautiful woman in the word.
Andy Swain is a photographer looking to make Gloria his muse.
Sharon Davis is a detective determined to solve the mystery behind a serial killer on the loose whose victims are all beautiful young women.
What could they possibly have in common?
Well I will not give anything away however this story is one that keeps you riveted, wanting to know what will happen next.
This story has it all, glamour, intrigue, betrayal, jealousy and murder.
Will Sharon have the answers before it's too late?
Dark Illusion is an edge of your seat read that you will enjoy from cover to cover.
Dark and Thrilling

I totally enjoyed the pace of this story and the fact that the primary characters were female. If you enjoy reading thrillers and books with strong females as lead characters...this book is one you will like.
The storyline contained all the best features of a good psychological thriller, with just the right flavor of romance blended in.
I hope to see continuing works starring Detective Davis, from this author and other books as well!

The plot was constantly evolving throughout the book, which made it very interesting and never a dull moment. I loved the Detective Sharon Davis' tenacity to solve this case by peeking away layers of clues regarding an horrible crime that began over 20 years ago - as well as following a psychopathic murderer. The characters were very believable and you could really relate to their issues and emotions and what they were going through in the storyline. The ending was really great!! Enjoy the book - you won't be sorry!
Amazing Fast-paced Book!! Loved it!
So many emotions ran through me while reading this book...Some characters I really loved, others I absolutely despised. At times I felt very protective over them and I was rooting for them to succeed with every chapter and every new discovery. This reading was really intense and I got into it so much that I even missed a deadline!
